RUBBISH SERVICE FROM ADMIRAL HOME INSURANCE!!!!

I thought I will share my experience with Admiral home insurance when I made a recent claim. I have a Gold policy with Admiral that covers for accidental damage to property. I recently had some leak to roof caused by 3 tiles that had lifted and broke in strong winds in recent bad weather. The water leak had subsequently damaged the wooden plank over the bathroom ceiling causing to fall down in part from the water damage (which again is covered as standard under Gold Policy). The emergency home repair team sent by Admiral to make the roof water tight came on Friday and told me they could not fix it till Monday (stating that the roof will have to continue to leak by then and when I discussed with the Admiral home emergency team they stated that any further water damage will be covered by the Insurers if they were unable to fix the leak). I had to get the roof repaired by a private roofer who made the roof water-tight on the same day.

The surveyor subsequently gave the report that the damage is due to routine wear and tear (I fail to understand how the accidental damage to bathroom ceiling from water leak resulting from wind damage to tiles is caused by routine wear and tear) and will not be covered by the insurers!!

I find this frustrating as I’m not claiming to have my roof done, all I need the Insurer to cover is the repair costs for the accidental damage that has happened to the bathroom ceiling.

I would advise everyone to be very careful when buying Admiral home Insurance as in my opinion if they can’t cover for this type of simple accidental damage from the water leak, I don’t know what else constitutes accidental damage to the property!!!

Car insurance can be a complete nightmare, especially when things go wrong.
Like many of us I’ve used quite a few insurers throughout my years of insuring Cars, Homes,
Businesses… and never had to make many claims in all that time.

The story below illustrates just how poorly ‘some’ insurers lower themselves in putting their
profits first and customer service way down the list, apart from very slick advertising, promising the
    earth and delivering so little.
The reasons for publishing this article are to highlight the abject failure of this insurer to follow
any procedures in trying to stamp out what we’ve all read in the papers as ‘Cash for Crash’ accidents.

A few years ago my daughter collected my wife from her place of work and was driving home
when a vehicle undertook them on a busy roundabout then abruptly slammed its
brakes on causing an accident, that injured my wife and wrote off the car.

Fortunately I was in close proximity and was at the scene within a few minutes.

Given the dubious circumstances of the accident I called the Police who duly attended and gave us
all the relevant information that would be needed with the insurers. We were also very lucky a motorist
parked at a nearby junction came and made themselves known to the Police and didn’t hesitate to say
they would gladly act as a witness having seen what transpired.

The accident was reported to Admiral who agreed the evidence given was credible and excellent that
we had a witness. Even at this early stage it seemed all was on our side.
Weeks passed and I mean weeks, when I contacted Admiral about the case… All the notes had been misplaced,
no record of any witness and I was told they had admitted liability.
Over the coming months I lodged a formal complaint and the case was reopened, an accident investigator appointed,
the witness contacted (who after months of zero contact had destroyed the evidence they kept) and after review a
decision to defend the case fully was taken. All again seemed right…

A random phone call one day asking if myself, wife and daughter would attend court, definitely came our reply.
This call was followed by another conference call with a solicitor and barrister where we were interviewed, except no
one from Admiral had given the legal team any copies of the accident report, our original Police statements or witness evidence. This was followed by a court date being offered when we were out of the country.

Along side all this for nearly 18 months I would get weekly phone calls around 7pm from all sorts of cash for claims companies, even though my number is protected.
As I work in IT and know a thing or two about data protection, a little investigation suggests insurers who supposedly
are looking after your interests knowingly sell details to either third parties, so they can’t be held accountable or direct
to some of these companies. My research suggests the insurer at that time had indeed passed on our details.
Would you believe, even after 4 years I still get random calls asking if I had been involved in an accident.

For all the stunning TV advertising Admiral produce, in essence its a numbers game for them and they simply can’t
be trusted when it comes to a claim in my humble opinion, so why would any person trust their services.

Do not use Admiral if you want to claim against a third party who is also an Admiral customer.

Gave me too much hassle and stress. Took 1 and half year to settle one claim. To start with, I paid excess of £400 as the car was a write off. It was a big headache as the communication was very poor. When I Forgot about it, I got email from them saying my claim is settled and it wont effect my no claim bonus, so I called back to ask for the access which i clearly deserved. But it is not straight forward either as they said I have to go through legal process and get Admiral law involved with and do more paperwork and questions. I was on the phone for more than half hour talking about the details which I already gave to admiral over a year ago. At the end I decided to accept the loss and not go through the stress again.

I am sure they will share/sell the third party contact details and I will get cold calls from many companies who wants a piece of the pie.

It is a good company and good value until you make a claim. I am sure most insurance company is like that, when they are receiving money they will happily accept it with a big smile ££. But when you want to change a small detail on the policy they want a admin fee. And you are paying over £500 for the insurance, they will still charge you to send a paper copy. When it is time to actually give money to the deserved customer, they turn their head around and make you do lot of paperwork and phone calls.

I would never use Admiral again ever even though it gives me the cheapest deal in the market.

I was never offered a courtesy car and after 1 week found out I should have been but because I managed to “borrow” another car to use then was advised that I would not be able to now ! My car has been away for 3 weeks now, whole process has been a complete farce from delayed, late collection to no courtesy car to arranged courtesy car, then delayed again! to compensation agreement of £10 per day, which is an insult, I drive a very expensive car and was offered no courtesy car and as a “sorry” £10 per day. This is a very long story but believe me when I say that my renewal is up in November and I can’t wait to go somewhere else! I would never recommend Admiral to anyone, even their complaints dept is inadequate! If there was a “nil” star rating I would have chosen that.

They cancelled my policy after they declared my car as a total loss against the third party and asked me if I want to claim to get my excess back so I agreed to that. After a few weeks they told me that my claim was unsuccessful and when I asked for a refund against my cancelled policy (which has around 10 months in), they refused to refund me! They simply told me that the claim has become against me since there is no way to put it on the third party side. Total rip off. Admiral Insurance or Admiral Law are never been reliable at all. If there is less than 1 star, I would have selected it. Never use them again and not recommended at all. They have stolen my money and wasted my time. I had to file a complaint against them.

I will be advising my daughter to see a solicitor. They took over £100 too much out of her bank on direct debit. When she asked for it back they told her it was taken by direct debit so you can’t put it back (what a load of rubbish) but they would take £10 off her insurance payments. She is a single working mum and I say that Is theft and illegal and I will be taking it further.

In the latest Admiral TV advert they claim “courtesy car free as standard”. However, this is not the case. When my car was involved in an accident (my other half lost control of it on a slippery road) we were under the impression we would get a courtesy car. So after a few days of waiting we were informed that as the claim was an “at fault” claim (in that no other party was involved) no courtesy car would be provided. We were then advised my car was a write off so I hired at car at my expense.
The write off process took a bit of arguing the toss, my car was no longer made and to buy a like for like replacement meant spending a lot of time getting prices off Auto Trader and Honda dealers to get a reasonable value to buy a replacement car. In the end I was forced to go for a completely different car as they wouldn’t give me the money to replace like for like. Having said that once they had agreed on a value the cheque came out rapidly, and within two weeks of the accident I was driving a new car.
I would advise that if your car gets written off get as much evidence as possible to justify why you should get the right money. Never ever take their first offer, they go in low.

I’ve never had to make a claim with Admiral but I’ve left reviews on various sites as I’ve had a problem with them. Over the last 2 years I’ve seen a big rise in the cost of my car insurance even though my period of no claims has increased. When I called and asked about this their staff werer very rude. I decided to leave them when my policy came up for renewal but haven’t been able to get a certificate of no claims off them. I’ve called 4 times and each time have been told it will be with me within 3 to 5 days. I still haven’t got it, which bothers me as I need it for my new insurance. It seems deliberate.
