    Just avoid all RSA companies ..I had house content insurance with RSA/More Than for 20 years and this year when I did a price comparison found I could get the same level of cover from other leading insurance companies for 1/3rd of what RSA/MoreThan had been charging. When challenged they came back and said hard luck you didn’t have to insure with us .

    Can’t help feeling that if a builder overcharged a pensioner 3 fold for replacing some roof tiles the consumer organisations and authorities would be all over them but when a large organization like RSA acts in a fraudulent and dishonest way regulatory bodies seem unwilling to take action .

    Maybe its because those organizations like the FSA are funded by the Insurance companies and are little more than a bit of token window dressing by the insurance community to appease consumers.

    Avoid rsa at all costs,Worst insurance company ever!!! They was happy to take my money for car cover yet after being with them for several years i was involved in a collision(my fault)they never gave me a courtesy car(i was fully comp and entitled to this)was rude throughout all communications,accused me of a fraudulent claim so they did not have to pay me the £3000 they had first of said i would recieve,had me arrested and investigated for fraud,after a 7 months investigation the police said i had not commited any faul play and said what i am saying is true yet rsa still wont pay out..two years this has been going on and i have to now fork out more money for a solicitor to fight for the £3000…absolutly disgusting the way they treat people..there the fraudsters…

    In the year 2007 I took out building insurance with RSA. In 2008 we had a fire at our home due to electrical faults. I instructed a loss assessor, James Fisher from AC Management and RSA instructed Crawford & Co as Loss Adjusters. The Loss Assessor and Loss Adjuster knew each other privately. They assisted each other and recommended their own builders and surveyors. These companies were not registered companies nor were they VAT registered however they claimed and got paid a large ammount of VAT from RSA.
    They inflated the claim up to the last penny of my cover which was £300,000. I only needed £180,000 to refurbish my 4 bedroom house and they managed to steal the money from my Insurance. In less than 2 months they managed to steal over £230,000 without my knowledge or permission. They paid out without any receipts or any evidence of works.
    They threw me and my family out of temporary accommodation without considering my severe disability and as a single parent with 2 children I was forced to live in a half burnt down, inhabitable building site. We had no running water, electricity, shower or kitchen. It took me almost 5 years to complete the house with all my savings and a mountain of debts from loans (with interest).
    They are not accepting liability. I am now in Court with them and so far they have accepted no responsibility for their fraudulent actions.

    This is the worst ever company to deal with ,do not use RSA ,they do not phone back so you have to pay to chase them ,took 10 days so far to pay still not in bank after car being written off ! Avoid like the plague

    I am trying hard to understand how a large company can manage to achieve such a level on ineptness and incompetence. A small leak, that took less than two minutes to fix, has turned, as a direct result of RSA handling into a four week nightmare with the bathroom stripped out for all of these four weeks. The claim has now been running for nearly three months, and we are no nearer a solution than when we started.

    The so called claims handlers are worse than useless. They never answer thir phones don’t return calls and generall don’t give a damne.

    The contractors are as bad, nobody talks to anybody, nobody knows anything, and it’s never anybody’s fault.

    Avoid, avoid, avoid, at all costs. They are good at collecting premiums, but little else.

    Utter junk, I paid them on the 1st and was told on the 2nd I was not insured with them…er I had been driving all day apparantly not insured even though they had taken my money. I then had to take another policy out with another company and its now 1 month later and I am still awaiting a refund. Ripoff, Junk, worst company on the planet. Steer clear otherwide be burnt by these cowboys.

    Royal sun alliance are the worst insurance company to deal with, the customer service is one of the worst ever I get passed from pillar to post . I never get a call back or update of how my insurance claim is progressing. I have had a water leak in my house and been left with water damage in three areas of the house , they have not paid out and the house smells of rotten fish. Every time you try to ring they say they will call you back do. It has been nearly 3 months and they have not paid a penny.

    Can I just say I am really happy with the service I’ve received in relation to a no fault claim I have had to put in today. Someone crashed into our parked car last night. I have already had confirmation that we will be provided this afternoon with a courtesy car until our car is fixed, and that our car will be collected by the garage on Monday. All of this at no cost (excess waived) to us. The lady I spoke to in the call centre was friendly, helpful and human. The man from Enterprise rental who called me was the same. I know this is how insurance should work, but I have so many poor customer service experiences (not just with insurance companies) lately, that it is definitely worth remarking on it when I have a good experience. My faith in human nature has also been bolstered by the fact that the lady who crashed into us stopped, called the police and gave her full details, rather than try and drive off leaving us to sort out the mess. Obviously this has made the whole process so much easier for us.

    Well I would like to officially award rsa echoice as the worst car insurance company on the planet – an internet only insurance company that does not have the infrastructure to work in this manner– corruption of databases, lack of internal communication, basically inept in every department. Sorry, I tell a lie – they are good at taking your money and then advising that you are not insured with them!
