I purchased travel insurance via Thomson travel agent with Axa. paid over £300 I paid half each with my late husband. Never normally buy travel agent policy usually go with post office. My husband was taken ill in Florida USA and subsequently died. Axa were useless rude and unhelpful. They have declined all cover refused even to pay for the body to be repatriated. I was named on the policy did not take that into consideration totally disgusted with them would advise people never to use them they have no compassion humanity or any good will offer heartless staff are rude. They rang me at hospital bedside of my dying husband and argued with me

Absolutely disgusted with the service and “cover” provided by AXA Home Insurance. Our home was flooded by a burst water main through no fault of our own (thank you Southern Water) and our basement was submerged by nearly two feet of sewage infested water. After the kindly fire service pumped out the worst of it we placed our claim with AXA. A loss adjustor was duly sent to assess the damage
which was mostly electrical goods, spoiled furniture, flooring and personal effects (including wedding and family photos spoiled beyond repair) after nearly 3 months of waiting there had been no follow up from them.

Eventually, I was contacted by email with an entirely condescending message to say that they are rejecting the claim. We were dumbfounded. The reason given that our home was not kept in a state of repair that was to their satisfaction. I’m sorry but there is no possible ‘state of repair’ that would have kept several thousand gallons of unhygienic sewage infested water from invading any type of property.

I contacted AXA to dispute this and after being on the phone for over an hour with laughable excuses we were still given no real valid reason why they would not process our claim. The way we’ve been treated has been criminal. We had taken a premium package with AXA and it’s not worth the paper it’s written on. We feel completely let down. Their customer service, or rather lack it, is atrocious. their staff, when they eventually deem to contact you are patronising and insulting.

Regardless how much AXA spends on building their brand image through advertising or sponsorship do not go near this company. Insurance is bought on trust to give you peace of mind that if anything ever happens to your family or home in incidences like this you will be taken care of. With Axa this is most definitely not the case. The way we’ve been treated is bordering on criminal and all we can now do is take our dispute to the governing bodies. No matter what deal you may be quoted by AXA do not touch it. What is the point of paying for insurance that doesn’t provide your family with any protection whatsoever?

Beware if you are currently insured with Axa/Swift cover. Check out section B – Fire and Theft. As you will see., you are not covered for loss or damage caused by theft or attempted theft: if your car was taken by a member of your family or household, or taken by an employee or ex-employee.

I’ve also since been told that if the person was on the premises and the keys were readily available, they will also not pay out.

My boyfriend took my car while i was asleep, obviously without my consent.

I woke up the next day to the horrific news that he had crashed my car and died. I provided the insurance with the incident no, etc. Then put it to the back of my mind whilst i tried to come to terms with what had happened.

In the meantime, I received a letter of condolence, closely followed by their deciding that they would not pay out due to him being a member of the household. Despite providing numerous sources of evidence showing that my boyfriend did not have a key, referred to the address as my house, providing witnesses that he randomly stayed at various they still maintain he was a member of the household – which by the way is not in the definitions section, and it has taken me 2 months to have the ambiguous at the very lest term clarified. So good luck disproving that one.

So despite all of the information I have provided. They have now hit me with: Mr ######### was at the address and did have ready access to the vehicle keys at the material time. Aso their other excuse not to pay.

I have had pet insurance for year with these people and never claimed, yet the premium leapt up this year. Ok, I have a claim to make. They were obstructive to start with. Overcame that. They send me an email about my claim in which they make an error. So I ring the call centre – before I say a word, I can tell the girl is in a stroppy, irritable mood. All, the way through our conversation, which I kept on a friendly level, she was odd – almost like she was wanting an argument. It was very strange. I was held on the phone for two lots of about 5 minutes. She gave very bad impression of the company.

I live in Belfast, so am with Axa Direct for motor insurance. I think its the same company as Axa. Anyhow, I am very upset with them. I’ve been insured with them for several years and also introduced my partner to them. This year, I was in an incident which led to me being convicted of careless driving. The magistrate did not fine me and only gave me 3 points, in view of the fact that I had a completely clean driving record, no criminal record and there had been no accident of any sort. There was no insurance claim made against me. I kept Axa informed of what was happening right from the start, and rang specifically to tell them about the conviction within a day of the court hearing, as I wanted to keep myself right. They sent me out a renewal notice just after I’d been convicted and I rang them to discuss the (really high) premium they had quoted. I mentioned the conviction again in this phone call. After they agreed to reduce the premium by around £20 I decided to renew with them even though they were still quite expensive. They rang me today to say that I had not declared the conviction when renewing!!! AND – apart from practically accusing me of lying – told me that they would have to load my premium by over £75, taking it up to over £450! I’ve now got a much lower quote from another very reputable company and will be cancelling my Axa insurance. I won’t be back. They have lost a customer who has an excellent driving record and has hardly ever had a claim for any reason. Serve them right! I have not actually tested their claim resolution process, but I can say that the advice that their claims section gave me during this difficult time was very poor and added substantially to my stress.

I was probably the most skeptical person ever about insurance and really felt sick when i had to make a claim after a pipe burst during the night…I was sure they would wangle out of everything they could and pay for as little as possible. How very wrong I was!!!
My experience was that they were absolutely suberb. They had everything sorted out really quickly, generously covered every expense and did not haggle about anything. Throughout, they kept me updated and I could track my case on line to see where we were at. I was able to have the cash in hand to replace things at the best price. But was the sting in the tail going to be the increased insurance premium on renewal? Nope. Absolutley delighted and will insure with them again as I now know that the proof of the puding has been in the eating.I will check them first for all my insurance needs now.

I regret buying insurance off AXA and would defintley not recomend this to anybody. I’ve had a claim with them that sitll not settled after 5 months. AXA not doing anything about it – not trying to find out who the insurance company is of other party. I’ve spent hour and hours on the phone trying to explain my side of things and get paid. They never contact me. i always have to contact them. Very poor customer service.
