Deliberately sub-standard in every way. After failing to properly repair my vehicle Allianz NI proceeded to wheel out their ‘expert’ and together they tried to bully me into submission. I cannot remember being treated with as much condescending, patronising distain by anyone supposedly providing me with a service as I have been with Allianz NI. I hope never to do business with them again.

Please, please be careful if you are considering insuring with, or have the misfortune of having to deal with Allianz. I could never have believed that such incompetence and poor service could exist from an insurer. They have caused me months of undue stress due to them not cashing cheques issued to them, refusing to communicate and then totally out of the blue issuing me with a CCJ because they are too incompetent to cash cheques that had been repeatedly sent to them! Please avoid at all costs, unless you want to spend an awful amount of time complaining about them to the FSO!

I have taken out Motor Insurance cover with Allianz via their Broker’s Swinton Insurance Brokers (online). Be aware that should Allianz decide that cover cannot go ahead and you have already paid your premium over to Swintons via the online credit service that this boker offers.
Swinton’s will not pay your premiums back to you for 14 days. The reasons for this are based on something they refere to as “Clawback” and Swinton Insurance Brokers have no idea what Clawback is when you challenge them about this on the phone. Do not insure with Allianz unless you are absolutely sure that your past insurance history is clean ie. all previous claims history is good.

Be warned of Allianz as your insurer – be extra careful if you are offered them through an insurance broker. Two months ago I was involved in an incident in which a cyclist crashed into the side of my car (9pm at night on empty roads). He came around a corner at speed (there is high visibility right the way around the corner) and didn’t attempt to brake but decided to try and overtake my stationary car (drivers side) whilst my right hand indicator was on….We did the right thing and exchanged details and I reported the incident to my insurance broker who passed the case to Allianz, my insurer. Allianz received an initial report from me, but gave me a partial, yet contradictory account from the cyclist. Here’s what I have come up against: 1. None of the situations the cyclist has given are even possible at this junction
    2. The cyclist cannot identify my vehicle or where it came from and even identified me as a separate vehicle on the opposite side of the road, travelling in the opposite direction, to what I was; claiming i was actually beside him prior to the junction which would have made him aware of my presence if this was true, so according to his version of events the incident should never have happened.
    3. The cyclist was also wearing black all over (no high vis wear), at night, making him and his vehicle almost impossible to see except for the small light on the front.
    4. Allianz have ruled in the cyclists favour without receiving any signed information of their own documentation they have sent out to me, which is supposed to be my verification to agree that what is in the documentation is true.
    5. Allianz say it is too expensive to take a cyclist to court due to the high failure rates in the past of cyclist prosecution, despite that I pay for their service. In addition to this, apparently “cyclists have their own rules on the road” as stated by the advisor (effectively not needing to abide by the highway code).
    6. So without my statement and on the assumption that cyclists always win, Allianz have already decided I have lost, claiming that cyclists are not afforded the protection that cars are therefore being more vulnerable than cars are. In effect, cyclists will always win regardless of their actions.
    7. Documentation from Allianz for me to sign includes a paragraph stating I have read and understood the cyclists full statement. This statement was never received by me, I have not signed this document as confirmation, yet the judgement has been made. It appears Allianz will not, regardless of circumstance, represent you against a cyclist.
