I have AA central heating response plus, the boiler broke 48 hours ago, with an Vitodens 100 F2 fault code, meaning overheating. We have no hot water or heating so rang the AA. Started fine, raised a call at 9am Sunday and told somebody would get in touch within 2 hours. So, we waited until midday, no call. We asked for update to be told at 3pm the sub-contractor the AA had tasked could not take the job. A nice lady at the AA said she had passed the job to South West Water who will pick it up at 9am, if they could not then an AA engineer would be around on Tuesday.

We get to 9am Monday morning, South West Water call and arrange for an engineer to come around ASAP, all looking good. Engineer turns up at 10:30 on the dot, walks in and to the back of the house, looks at the system and says “That’s an unvented cylinder, we don’t do those” and leave the house at 10:31.

I get a call at 15:55 that afternoon from a very rude lady at the AA, saying the because the fault is with an unvented cylinder it’s not covered. The decision is final, no further discussion or engineer visits. At this point I’m a little cross and try to explain the engineer has not actually looked at the system and was only in the house for 70 seconds (I have CCTV). I’m talked over repeatedly with the same line, I ask to speak to her manager with no luck and I’m told to speak to complaints.

I file a complaint, pointing out that the fault is not with the tank but with the boiler and the system was services by South West Water nine months ago, without issue.

So, here I am, with a worthless AA central heating response plus, no heating and no hot water. If you’re thinking of getting AA cover, don’t.

I’ve just switched from Sheilas Wheels to AA for car insurance. I found the customer service person I dealt with considerate, informative and helpful. The AA saved me £62 on my annual car payments and gave me 12 months breakdown cover. They were a pleasure to deal with.

Have just phoned to change vehicle as my car died after only 2 weeks of new MOT and car tax. My insurance more than doubled when I went from a Corsa to a Ford Focus. I have 5 years no claims and am 41 year old. It is shocking that it doubled. Thankfully, I used my 14 day get the heck out clause. After a couple of of years with AA, I have to say its the worst insurance company I have dealt with in 23 years of driving.

I just love being ripped off by The AA on my contents insurance. Every year they put up my contents insurance even though I haven’t claimed anything. I missed the deadline for changing it so I’m stuck paying double what their own quote on comparison sites shows. If I cancel I have to pay out £100 in cancellation fees. Next year I will not be insuring with them. I am sick of not having any benefit to being a loyal non-claiming customer for 5 years and getting ripped off. Seriously, why should I have to call them everytime they send my renewal to try to get a better deal? They should be offering me a better deal from the outset for my good custom. Do not buy insurance through The AA – they do not reward good customers!
